A man was burnt alive in suspicious circumstances and a day after his maternal uncle was stabbed to death in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand in the past 48 hours, police said on Friday.
SSP Haridwar Pramendra Dobal said one person identified as Naman of Ambar Talab area in Haridwar district has been arrested. A family dispute is stated to be cause of the murder.
Giving details, Dobal said Kunal Pundir (25) died due to severe burn injuries after his room caught fire in suspicious circumstances on Wednesday night. Pundir was rushed to nearby govt Roorkee hospital where he was declared dead.
Pundir’s maternal uncle Sonu Chauhan (40), who came to Gangnahar area from Saharanpur to attend the funeral of Kunal Pundir was stabbed to death in what appeared to be a family dispute. Police has arrested Naman, who was a close relative of Chauhan. “Naman was in close relation in the family and he murdered Chauhan due to an old family dispute,” a police official said.
At the instance of Naman, some vital evidences like knife used in the murder and blood-stained clothes have been recovered, the police said.
