After a series of thunder showers in May, the southwest monsoon is likely to arrive in Uttarakhand tentatively after June 10, the met department said on Sunday.
The monsoon hit Kerala on May 24 making its earliest arrival over the Indian mainland since 2009 when it had reached the southern state on May 23.
“The tentative date for the arrival of monsoon in Uttarakhand is after June 10,”said Bikram Singh, Director Met department Dehradun.
“We will be getting monsoon after June 10 mainly due to the early advancement of the monsoon this season in the Indian mainland,” he said. In the previous occasions, the earliest arrival of monsoon in Uttarakhand is June 13 in 2021.
The monsoon rains are likely to be slightly better than normal this time, he said.
Meanwhile, the weather is likely to remain partly cloudy with possibility of rains in the next 6-7 days.
