Nitish takes oath as CM, PM Modi swings gamchha

Nitish Kumar along with his 26 council of ministers on Thursday was sworn-in as Chief Minister of Bihar for the record tenth time at Patna’s Gandhi Ground.

Governor Arif Mohd Khan administered the oath of office to Kumar and other ministers in the presence of many chief ministers of the BJP-ruled and other states. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh were also present in the ceremony.

An elated Prime Minister Narendra Modi was visibly happy as he swung his gamchha at Patna soon after the completion of the swearing-in ceremony.

As the swearing in ceremony ended, Modi stood up and embraced Kumar. Thereafter, he took out his gamchha from neck started swinging from the stage apparently applauding the people for giving a massive victory to the NDA in the Bihar Assembly elections. Videos of Modi’s act of swinging the gamchha immediately went viral with many people fully supporting the gesture.

One of the cynosures of the ceremony was 34-year-old Shreyasi Singh who was sworn-in as minister. Singh, an MLA from Jamui, had won a gold medal in the shooting in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
