One Battle After Another has walked away as the biggest winner from the 2026 Oscars with 6 awards total: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn, the first-ever Oscar for Best Casting, and Best Editing.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has now celebrated the 98th edition of the prestigious Academy Awards.
The 2026 Oscars honored an especially extraordinary year in cinema, with widely treasured films such as Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein leading the winners list.
Director Paul Thomas Anderson’s 3 Oscar wins for One Battle After Another are his first ever, coming after a whopping 14 nominations earned since 1998. Suffice to say, it was a huge night for longtime PTA fans.
The same goes for director Ryan Coogler, who won Best Original Screenplay for Sinners. Coogler’s beloved vampire period drama also won Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, and Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan.
Sinners‘ Autumn Durald Arkapaw became the first female cinematographer to ever win the Oscar, a landmark achievement. Meanwhile, Sinners composer Ludwig Göransson won his third Oscar, coming after his wins for Black Panther (2018) and Oppenheimer (2023).
In third place, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein took home 3 Oscars: Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Additionally, cultural gems such as KPop Demon Hunters and Sentimental Value won Best Animated Feature and Best International Feature, respectively.
