With human-animal conflicts continuing in Uttarakhand, a woman was killed in a leopard attack in Okhalkanda area in Nainital district in Uttarakhand on Tuesday.

This is the second death in leopard attacks in Nainital district in a week.

The incident took place in Tok Kitoda village of Chamoli Gram Panchayat where Rekha Devi had gone to the nearby forest along with other women to collect dry woods and fodder for the cattle. As Devi did not return home, her family members started looking for her in the forests, where her mutilated body was later recovered.

After the incident, the locals have expressed concern and alleged that despite repeated incidents of leopard attacks in the area, no action has been taken by the forest department.

A few days ago, on December 26, a leopard had dragged a woman from her house into the bushes in Dhari block of the district where her body was later recovered.
