After the sensational murder of Arjun Sharma on Wednesday, a gangster-turned-mining businessman was shot dead near the Silver City Multiplex at the upscale Rajpur Road in Dehradun Friday morning, police said. Vikram Sharma, the owner of a stone crusher, was shot dead when he was returning home from a gym near the Silver City Multiplex, police said.
The assailants numbering 2-3 escaped immediately after committing the crime, police said. The motive behind the murder was not clear. The police is also investigating whether Sharma was part of the mining mafia operating in different parts of Uttarakhand particularly in Udhamsingh Nagar district. “There is a possibility of an inter-gang rivalry which caused the murder of Sharma,” a police official said.
“We have alerted all our police teams to nab the culprit,” a top police official said.
This is the third murder in Dehradun city in less than one fortnight. Arjun Sharma the owner of a gas agency was shot dead near Tibeti Market in the broad daylight on Wednesday. Five persons including the mother of Arjun Sharma have been arrested in the murder case.
Earlier, Gunjan Shrivastva (23) was hacked to death in Machchhi Bazar on Feb 2.
