President Droupadi Murmu on Monday showered praise on the Indian women cricket team for becoming the World Champions and said they have sent a message to the entire world that they are second to none.
Addressing a special session of the state assembly in Dehradun to commemorate the silver jubilee of the formation of Uttarakhand, the President said, “today is a very happy day for the entire country as well as for the entire world. Today, our daughters have sent a message to the world that we are second to none. The youth here are energetic, and women are also not lagging behind.”
President Murmu said India has 1.4 billion people, half of whom are women, and everyone’s cooperation is essential to make India a developed country by 2047.
All the MLAs present in the House also supported the President’s for the Indian women cricketers who on Sunday night scored an emphatic 52 run victory over South Africa to win their first World Cup at Navi Mumbai.
Earlier, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team for winning the World Cup in his address. He said, “Through this House, I want to congratulate the daughters of Mother India who, by winning the Women’s World Cup yesterday, have inspired millions of our daughters.”
The entire House, including the President, applauded the Chief Minister’s statement.
