Seven people, including an elderly couple, were killed and 12 injured after a bus fell into a deep gorge near Bhikiyasein in Almora district of Uttarakhand on Tuesday, police said.
The bus carrying nearly 19 passengers, all locals, was going from Dwarahat in Almora district to Ramnagar in Nainital district when the accident occurred on Vinayak Road. The cause of the accident was not known.
The victims included elderly couple Govind Vallabh (80) and his wife Parvati Devi (75) hailing from Jamoli area in Almora district.
All the injured persons were rushed to nearby hospitals. Later three critically injured were referred to higher centre.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his grief over the accident and asked the administration to provide best medical facilities to the injured.
