Top Uttarakhand Congress leaders on Tuesday met LOP Rahul Gandhi and party President Mallikarjun Kharge at New Delhi and discussed corruption and various other issues concerning the hill state.
Gandhi listened to the Uttarakhand leaders attentively and told them to work unitedly for the assembly elections which are slated to be held in the state next year, Congress sources said.
Gandhi also praised state party President Ganesh Godiyal and former chief minister Harish Rawat for raising big issues like corruption in the state, the sources said.
Later talking to newspersons, the party leader Shailaja said since the corruption is a big issue in Uttarakhand, Congress would continue to raise it at different level. She claimed that Sukhwant Singh, a famer of Udhamsingh Nagar recently committed suicide mainly due to the growing corruption in the state.
