Despite the CBI probe into the paper leak controversy, the Uttarakhand government is going ahead with its plan to fill the remaining 5000 jobs through exams in the next 9 months starting from Oct 5 this year.

The Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC), which was embroiled in the paper leak controversy, has said it would conduct exams for 5000 state government jobs amid tight security arrangements.

The examinations for over 5,000 government positions would be held as per schedule, a top government official confirmed on Wednesday.

There is an examination on October 5 followed by one more on October 12. A physical efficiency test would be conducted on Oct 28.  These recruitment examinations and tests are being held for approximately 5,000 to 5,500 posts, officials said.

Nearly 10,000 to 12,000 posts are being filled by the state government. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has repeatedly made announcements in this regard after the paper leak controversy. He has stated that the government has already provided 25,000 jobs.

Exams for 4,500 to 5,000 positions have already been conducted in the last six months, which include one graduate level where the paper leak controversy erupted from a Haridwar centre.

The final results will be released soon after document verification and physical examinations. Following the uproar caused by the alleged leak of three pages of a question paper on Sept 21, uncertainty has loomed over the Commission’s upcoming recruitment examinations.

Meanwhile, security arrangements are being further tightened during the coming examination. A detailed review has been conducted with District Magistrates and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs)regarding biometric verification of candidates, frisking, and the installation of jammers at the examination centers.

The examination center will be completely sanitized a day before the exam and will be manned by security personnel until the exam begins. Top officials said candidates must arrive at the center two hours in advance and will undergo biometric verification and a thorough search at the entrance gate. Upon entering the room, the invigilator will frisk the candidates again.

This time, jammers will be installed in the washrooms at examination centers, and candidates using the washrooms will be subject to a search before leaving and after returning.

After the paper leak controversy, CM Dhami has announced a CBI probe in the case following which a group of unemployed youths deferred their 8-day long dharna near Parade Ground on Monday (Sept 29).
