On the lines of Uttar Pradesh, the Uttarakhand government on Saturday Increased by Rs 30  the State Advised Price (SAP) of early and common variety of sugarcane for the current crushing season 2025-26 fixing it at Rs 405 and Rs 395 per quintal respectively.

The decision was taken by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Compared to the previous crushing season 2024-25, the price of sugarcane has been increased by Rs 30 per quintal for the economic empowerment of farmers, Dhami said.

The Uttar Pradesh government last month also recently increased the price of sugarcane by Rs 30 per quintal compared to last year setting the state advised price of the early variety at Rs 400 per quintal.

Therefore, the Uttarakhand government felt under pressure to declare higher sugarcane prices than neighbouring state.

The Chief Minister said the state government’s goal is to accelerate the economic empowerment of farmers and ensure that they receive full and fair prices for their produce in a timely manner. He said in line with this objective, the sugarcane price has been significantly increased this year compared to the year 2024-25.

Dhami also said the decision to increase the SAP came after extensive discussions were held with cooperative, public, and private sector sugar mills as well as other relevant stakeholders.
