Woman airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh after being attacked by bear

A woman on Wednesday was airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh after being attacked by a bear in a remote village in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.

The incident occurred in Harmoni village where 26-year-old Goldie Devi went to forest for collecting fodder in the morning. Suddenly, she was attacked by a bear which left her severely injured.

She was rushed her to the government hospital in Tharali for treatment. As her injuries were grievous, she was airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh for better medical treatment on the advice of doctors.

The incident has created a scare in the region. Villagers have demanded that the Forest Department increase patrols in the area to prevent such attacks.
