A young woman fell to death after she was attacked by a bear in Bhatwari area of Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand.
This is the fourth incident in the past 2 months where bears have attacked villagers in the Garhwal region.
As Ambika Aswal (27) tried to run away after being attacked by the bear on Thursday, she fell from a hill in Heena village and died, forest officials said on Friday.
Giving details, the officials said Aswal (27) had gone to the forest with other village women to collect grass. A bear hiding in the bushes suddenly attacked her. She ran to escape the bear, but fell down the hill. She died on the spot.
