2 Rishikesh teenage girls drown in Ganga

Two teenage girls were drowned in the river Ganga at Rishikesh in Uttarakhand on Friday, police said.

The incident occurred near IDPL crematorium at Rishikesh where three girls were taking bath. All of a sudden, all the three girls were swept away in the fast currents of the river. While one girl was rescued by locals, the other two could not be found.

After receiving the information about the drowning, an SDRF team reached the spot and launched a search operation. After rigorously searching the river water, the bodies of both the girls were recovered.

The two girls have been identified as Neha Bahadur (13) and Anjali (14) who hail from IDPL Rishikesh.
