6 Delhi tourists arrested after dispute with local youths in Srinagar

Six young tourists from Delhi, who were on their way to the ski resort of Auli, were arrested and their cars seized following a dispute with local people at Srinagar town in Pauri district of Uttarakhand, police said.

One more youth from Tehri, who was accompanying the Delhi tourists, has also been arrested.

The incident occurred on Thursday (January 29, 2026) near Aditi Wedding Point in Srinagar after a dispute arose between some youths from Delhi traveling in two cars with locals over high-speed driving. “This led to an exchange of physical altercation between the two groups. Upon receiving the information, a police team reached the spot and brought the situation under control,” a police statement said.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Delhi youths had allegedly assaulted the local youths, who also tried to hit back. Taking the matter seriously, the police arrested seven youths including six from Delhi involved in the assault and seized their vehicles (DL 4CBE 8961 and DL 11 CE 3638).

The police said they are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter and reviewing CCTV footages. “Necessary legal action will be taken against all the individuals who disturb the peace and create chaos,” the police statement said.
