An earthquake of 4.2 magnitude jolted Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand on Saturday night, prompting residents to rush out of their homes.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake struck at 8.07 pm at a depth of 11 km below the Earth’s surface. Its epicentre was located at Bhatwari area of Uttarkashi.
The tremors were felt in the area, but no damage or casualties had been reported so far, officials said.
