The Artemis II capsule and its four-member crew have safely splashed down in the Pacific Ocean capping the historic ten-day mission that saw first voyage by humans to the vicinity of the moon in over half a century.

President Donald Trump congratulated the NASA and said the next mission will be Mars.

NASA’s Orion capsule, dubbed Integrity, parachuted gently into calm seas off the Southern California coast shortly after 5:07 p.m. Pacific Time (0007 GMT on Saturday), concluding a mission that four days prior took the astronauts 252,756 miles away from Earth, deeper into space than anyone had flown before.

The Orion spacecraft carried out a perfect descent in the sea waters.

President Trump congratulated the 4-member crew of NASA’s Artemis II mission. Trump said after another successful manned trip to the Moon, the space agency’s next big step would be to Mars. “We’ll be doing it again and then, next step, Mars!” he wrote.
