Actor Ananya Raj dies at 27 after health struggle

Actor Ananya Raj, known for her roles in films including 7 Hours to Go, The Final Exit, Ghost and the Telugu film Thaggede Le, has died at the age of 27. Her family confirmed the news nearly a month after her death.

According to a statement shared by her family on Instagram, Ananya died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of July 15. The family said she had been dealing with physical and mental discomfort for more than a year and had fought hard to overcome her difficulties.

Ananya, also known as Ananya Sengupta, worked in both Hindi and regional cinema. She made appearances in 7 Hours to Go (2016), The Final Exit (2017) and Ghost (2019), besides her work in Telugu cinema.

Her untimely death has shocked fans and colleagues in the film industry. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) paid tribute to the young actor, remembering her contribution to the industry and expressing condolences to her family.

The family has not disclosed a specific medical cause of death, saying only that Ananya had faced physical and mental health difficulties for over a year. Her death at just 27 has brought an abrupt end to a promising career in Indian cinema.
