Chaukhutia agitation deferred after talks with CM

The Chaukhutia agitation in Kumaon region which was continuing for a long time by local people demanding a sub-district hospital has been deferred for 20 days following an assurance given by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

“The ongoing agitation demanding a sub-district hospital in Chaukhutia has been suspended for 20 days following a detailed video call with the Chief Minister (Dhami). During the conversation with the protesters, the Chief Minister took a positive stance on all key issues and assured prompt action,” an official statement said on Sunday night.

The Chief Minister said a token money for the sub-district hospital would be released soon, enabling the hospital-related processes to proceed. He also clarified that specialist doctors would be stationed to strengthen health services in the region.

The Chief Minister assured that concrete steps are being taken at the departmental level to address all legitimate demands in the Chaukhutia region, and the impact will be clearly visible in the coming days.

The Chief Minister stressed that the overall development of the region is his priority. The protesters later thanked Dhami for his assurance.

Representatives of the protesters, Bhuvan Kathayat, Ashok Kumar, Sub-District Magistrate Sunil Kumar Raj, and relevant officials were present during the video call.
