Despite his busy schedule, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami says he reads books whenever he gets time especially during tours and that he would prefer them over bouquets.

The CM was speaking at a function to release a new book “Uttarakhand Rajya Ka Navin Rajnitik Itihas” written by senior journalist Jai Singh Rawat on Saturday.

Sharing an anecdote, Dhami said when he became CM, he was flooded with bouquets which were kept in a room. When he went to see these bouquets in the room, he realized that these flowers would not last more than 2-3 days. “I immediately said I will prefer books over bouquets,” said CM. “Give books, not bouquets”, the Chief Minister said.

“No matter how advanced AI becomes, there is no substitute for books,” Dhami said.

The Chief Minister said the coherence and authenticity with which Rawat has compiled the political journey of the state since its formation in the book, is highly commendable. Lauding the efforts of Rawat, the Chief Minister said, “Writing history is a serious responsibility, requiring facts, insight, and honesty.

Emphasizing the importance of book reading, the Chief Minister said that in today’s internet age, information is readily available, but the importance of books can never be diminished. He said that books deepen our thoughts and preserve knowledge permanently.
