Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday presented his maiden budget of Rs 1.11 lakh crore for the year 2026-27 in the state assembly In Bhararisen area in Chamoli district on Monday.
Dhami presented a revenue surplus budget which stood at Rs 2536.33 crore and said the total budget is 10 percent higher than the last year’s financial bill.
Dhami said the budget was conforming with the FRBM provisions as the fiscal deficit has been kept within the limit of 3 percent of GSDP, at ₹12,579.70 crore.
The Chief Minister said the state government was committed to the overall development by focusing on the poor, youths, farmers, and women.
This was the maiden budget of Dhami after Finance Minister Premchand Agarwal was forced to resign due an alleged derogatory remark last year.
Earlier, the budget session began amid uproar by opposition Congress members during Governor Lt Gen (retd) Gurmit Singh’s address.
As soon as the House began, opposition members stormed into the well and urged the Governor to leave. Congress members continued slogan shouting for 30 minutes before staging a noisy walkout.
However, opposition members participated in the House proceedings during the Chief Minister’s budget speech.
