Ghaziabad tense after youth killed over a minor tiff by friend

Security was tightened in Khoda area of ​​Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday after a teenager was allegedly stabbed to death over a minor tiff during Eid celebrations.

Surya Chuahan (17), who received multiple stab wounds, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Fortis Hospital in Noida Sector-62.

A heavy police force has been deployed in the area as the family members of Surya demanded justice amid the loud cries of his mother.

The incident occurred in the afternoon of May 28, when Chauhan was going for some work. On his way, he stooped to greet his friend Asad on the occasion of Eid. Following a minor tiff, Chauhan was attacked with a knife. Chauhan sustained critical injuries in the assault and was rushed to hospital where he died on May 29.

The incident sparked outrage among the residents of the area. Several Hindu organizations also arrived at the spot and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.

Acting on a complaint filed by the victim’s family, the police have registered a case against the main accused Asad who is absconding. The police has arrested three youths so far.

Footage from CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity is also being scrutinized.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Keshav Prasad Maurya, has assured stringent action in the Ghaziabad youth murder case, stating that the state government is committed to ensuring justice and maintaining law and order.
