Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen (retd) Gurmit Singh on Tuesday expressed profound grief over the demise of former Mizoram Governor and Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Lt Gen (retd) M.M. Lakhera.
Calling his death an irreparable loss to the nation, the Indian Army and himself personally, Singh recalled Lakhera as an outstanding military commander, visionary administrator and a humble leader. He fondly remembered serving under Lakhera during his early Army career and later succeeding him as Adjutant General at Army Headquarters. Singh said Uttarakhand had lost one of its finest sons whose exemplary service would continue to inspire future generations.
