India showcased its formidable security apparatus reflecting the defence preparedness and technological advancements at Kartavya Path in New Delhi as the nation celebrated its 77th Republic Day on Monday.
President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the national flag and took salute as the national anthem was played amidst the boom of 21 guns salute. Defence helicopters showered petals at the impressive march past.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Republic Day parade offered a glimpse into the strengthening capabilities of India’s security forces. He said that India’s security forces are truly the pride of the nation, and shared glimpses highlighting their impressive presence during the parade.
A vivid display of India’s cultural mosaic was also unfolded at Kartavya Path that showed the cultural diversity with vibrant performances and tableaux.
India hosted European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen who were the guests of honour.
The Air Force Pilots displayed the incredible symbiosis of man and machine in amazing speed with a total of 29 planes, including 16 fighter aircraft, four transport aircraft and nine helicopters, participating in this year’s Republic Day flypast. The fighter aircraft which operated from five different bases include Sukhoi and Rafale.
