A 50-year-old man from Delhi was drowned in Sahastradhara in Dehradun on Sunday, second death in one week in the stream which remains swollen during the monsoon.
The body of Nauth Ram, a resident of Delhi, was recovered nearly two kilometres downstream after an intensive search by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
According to police, the man was bathing in the area when he was swept away by the strong water currents. Soon SDRF launched a search operation at possible locations inn the stream.
After sustained searching, the rescuers located the body near Pandav Wala Bridge, two km downstream.
The body was subsequently handed over to the police for further legal proceedings.
Last Sunday, Neha Arya from Panipat in Haryana was swept away in Sahastradhara. Last year, heavy floods in Sahastradhara brought big destruction in the area on Sept 15-16.
