Doon University Vice Chancellor Prof Surekha Dangwal on Tuesday lauded the  national education policy 2020 saying its objective is to make students inquisitive so that their analytical ability can be developed and they can lead society as responsible citizens.

Addressing a seminar on “Navigating NEP-2020: Challenges, Opportunities, and Future” organized under the joint auspices of Doon University and the All India National Educational Federation,  the Vice Chancellor said while the structural framework of educational institutions is necessary, what is most important is the teacher and the dedication of teachers, because the quality of education will improve only through their commitment and sacrifice.

She noted that the availability of human resources devoted to education remains a big challenge.

Prof Dangwal added that the focus on skill development in the NEP will help youth become self-reliant entrepreneurs. Knowledge of value-added subjects will instill discipline and a sense of social responsibility, while also nurturing respect for conservation and sustainable use of environmental and natural resources. At the same time, the encounter with Indian knowledge traditions will free students from the mindset of slavery and make them proud of their culture and heritage.

Prof. Dangwal further stated that apart from the lecture hall, this policy offers multiple online platforms for students to learn, enabling them to compete at the international level.

Addressing the program, Prof. H.C. Purohit, Dean of School of Management, said that research, the National Research Foundation, and encouragement of innovation will help promote scholarly work. This education policy encompasses all sections of society, as it includes provisions to ensure access to education for differently-abled students, girls, and students from tribal areas. Teaching in the mother tongue will instill self-confidence in youth, enabling them to achieve success in life.

Welcoming the guests, Prof. R.P. Mamgain, Dean of the School of Social Sciences, said that the National Education Policy will prove to be instrumental in the holistic development of students.

The program was conducted by Dr. Prachi Pathak, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Sarita Singh. On this occasion, Dr. Alka Suri, National Vice President (Women’s Wing), All India National Educational Federation, Prof. Vijay Pithadia, Prof. Ajay Pratap Singh, Prof. Vijay Pratap Srivastava, Dr. Asha Ram Gairola, Dr. Komal, Dr. Ankit Nagar, along with dozens of teachers were present.
