Puran Saini, in-charge Secretary Mandi Samiti Kashipur in Uttarakhand was arrested when he was taking bribe by the Vigilance Department, officials said on Wednesday.
The Vigilance department arrested Puran Saini who was in-charge Secretary Mandi Samiti office, Kashipur, when he was taking a bribe of ₹1,20,000.
According to the complainant, Saini was demanding a bribe of ₹60,000 per license in lieu of the process of getting these licenses made in the Mandi Samiti. On finding the allegations prima facie correct in the preliminary investigations, a trap was laid by the Vigilance department, Haldwani, under which Saini was caught red handed while accepting the bribe on Tuesday.
An FIR has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Under the zero-tolerance policy, many government officials have been arrested when they were taking bribe in the hill state recently. “The state government is working on the policy of zero tolerance against corruption. If any person is found involved in corruption, strict action will be taken,” said Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
