Six children who went missing from Pithoragarh town in Uttarakhand have been traced by the police and returned safely to their homes on Saturday.

All these children who are relatives and live in different localities of Pithoragarh city, had quietly left their homes for a planned trip to Delhi.

The idea of visiting Delhi was brewing in the minds of these children for the last two months for which they even saved money. As soon as the holidays started, they left for Delhi without telling anybody.

The sudden disappearance of the children created panic in Pithoragarh. The family members immediately lodged a complaint at Kotwali Pithoragarh. Pithoragarh police immediately alerted nearby police from other districts about the missing children.

As soon as the information was received, Udham Singh Nagar police swung into action by launching an intensive checking drive at various points. “It is due to the promptness and intelligence of the police that all these 6 children were found travelling in a government roadways bus going to Delhi,” said Manikant Mishra SSP Udhamsingh Nagar.

“This incident presents a great example of excellent coordination between various districts of Uttarakhand Police, their sensitivity and their unwavering commitment towards the safety of children,” said SSP Mishra.
