Snowfall, rains bring cold in north (updating)

Hills of north India experienced winter-like conditions as higher reaches were experiencing snowfall plummeting temperatures considerably in the entire region.
In the plains, rains lashed several parts of Himachal, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh and other states.

After the snowfall, people were seen wearing sweaters and jackets in the hills. In Dehradun, the temperature fell by seven notches in two days to 26.5 degree C on Tuesday as the city recorded 20 mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours.

Fresh spell of snowfall blanketed hill resorts like Gulmarg and surrounding areas in a pristine white layer.
Snowfall was continuing on the lofty peaks of both the Garhwal and Kumaon regions in Uttarakhand including Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Hemkund, Auli, and Munsyari.
Pilgrims visiting Kedarnath were seen enjoying snowfall. Several videos in this regard have also gone viral.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall was recorded in Dehradun and other plains of the state.
The Met Department has predicted more rains and snowfall in the next few days.

The Chamoli district administration has suspended trekking activities on October 6 and 7 in view of the inclement weather conditions. Officials have appealed to the people to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution in view of the rain and snowfall warning. Pilgrims have also been asked to carry warm clothes with them and take adequate precautions in the hills.
