Snowfall in Kedarnath, other high altitudes of Uttarakhand

With rains lashing several areas in the north India, Kedarnath and other high altitudes of Uttarakhand on Monday experienced the season’s first snowfall.

The snowfall also plummeted temperature considerably in the state with people wearing sweaters and jackets in the hills.

Snow fell on the lofty peaks of both the Garhwal and Kumaon regions including Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Hemkund, Auli, and Munsyari.

Pilgrims visiting Kedarnath were seen enjoying snowfall. Several videos in this regard have also gone viral.

Meanwhile, light to medium rainfall was recorded in Dehradun and plains of the state.

The Met Department has predicted more rains and snowfall in the next few days.

Meanwhile, the Chamoli district administration has suspended trekking activities on October 6 and 7 in view of the inclement weather conditions. Officials have appealed to the people  to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution in view of the rain and snowfall warning. Pilgrims have also been asked to carry warm clothes with them and take adequate precautions in the hills.
