A student of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Central University in Srinagar town of Pauri district of Uttarakhand has allegedly committed suicide.
The body of Samarjeet Tewatia (23), a native of Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, was found hanging from a ceiling fan early Sunday from his house in Dang area in Srinagar, police said on Monday. The prima facie, the case appeared to be a suicide, police said. However, no suicide note was found.
Police has handed over the body to the family members after a post-mortem. On Saturday night, Tewatia was at his residence along with his girlfriend, who is also a university student.
The girl later told the police that when she went to meet him early Sunday, he was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room.
According to his friends, Tewatia has been suffering from mental stress also.
