Two members of the dreaded Chinu Pandit gang were arrested in Dehradun along with a cache of weapons amid reports that they were planning to strike in Haridwar.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) STF Navneet Singh Bhullar said based on the information received during the surveillance of Chinu Pandit, who has been lodged in Roorkee sub-jail in Haridwar district for the last several years, the two gangsters were arrested late Tuesday night from Premnagar area of ​​​​Dehradun.

He said that the duo has been identified as Samarth Panwar, a resident of Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh and Sanjay Negi, a resident of Lambgaon in Tehri district of Uttarakhand.

Three pistols with eight live cartridges and a country-made pistol with four live cartridges have also been recovered from the possession of the duo. Apart from this, a Thar vehicle and a motorcycle have also been recovered.

Pandit is a dreaded gangster from ​​Haridwar and has more than 30 cases registered against him for heinous crimes like murders, attempts to murder and kidnappings.

Bhullar said that in 2014, three members of Chinu Pandit gang were killed in a gang war outside Roorkee sub-jail. He said that on receiving information about a plan to take revenge for this murder, the members of Chinu Pandit gang were being secretly monitored. During this time, it was found out that Pandit was going to come out of jail on parole, after which he would carry out a major strike in Haridwar along with other gangsters.

STF came to know that shooters and weapons were also being arranged to carry out this incident. On this, STF activated its manual information system, after which the arrest of these criminals became possible.

Bhullar said that during interrogation, the criminals have also told about other criminals of their gang against whom further action will be taken.
