Vijay Kumar Malhotra, a BJP stalwart in Delhi politics, died at the age of 94, in the national capital.
Malhotra was a heavyweight in Delhi politics and one of the last surviving Jana Sangh leaders.
A large number of people gathered outside his house in the national capital shortly after his death was announced at 6 am.
Malhotra, a five-time Member of Parliament and two-time MLA from Delhi, was among the most prominent faces of the BJP and its predecessor, the Jan Sangh, in the capital. He was also the president of the Delhi unit of the BJP. With his demise, the Kedar Nath Sahni-Madan Lal Khurana-VK Malhotra era in Delhi also came to a close.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and top other leaders condoled the death of Malhotra. “Went to the residence of late Shri VK Malhotra Ji and paid tributes to him. Also expressed condolences to his family. His contribution to Delhi’s development and furthering our Party’s good governance agenda will be forever remembered,” Modi said.
