A 12-year-old student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan in Pithoragarh district headquarters in Uttarakhand on Friday, police said.
The incident occurred in Pawan Vihar area of Pithoragarh town where Krish Mehta, a class six student studying in a private school, allegedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan.
The boy’s body was found hanging in his room around 4 pm.
Krish was living with his aunt while his parents live in Baraku village, about 20 km from Pithoragarh town which is the district headquarters of Pithoragarh district.
Krish’s body has been sent for post-mortem. The reasons for the alleged suicide are not yet known and an investigation is underway, police said
