Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, presently Vice Chief of the Air Staff, will take over as the 29th Chief of the Air Staff on October 31, 2026, the Indian Air Force said on Tuesday.
Dixit will assume the rank of Air Chief Marshal and succeed Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, who will complete his tenure on October 31.
An Experimental Test Pilot and Qualified Flying Instructor, Air Marshal Dixit has more than 3,500 hours of flying experience. During his career, he has held several key operational and strategic appointments.
He has served as Commander-in-Chief of the Strategic Forces-related operations as CISC at Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff and as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Air Command.
Dixit has been decorated with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), Vayu Sena Medal (VM) and Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) for distinguished service during his career.
The Indian Air Force welcomed his appointment as its next Chief of the Air Staff.
He will assume charge at a time when the IAF is focusing on strengthening its operational capabilities, modernising its fleet and enhancing jointness among the three armed forces.
