Amid a massive influx of pilgrims heading to Kainchi Dham in Nainital district of Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday asked top officials to prepare a robust mid-term and long-term plan ahead of the annual June 15 fair at the Baba Neem Karori Baba ashram.
At a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence, Dhami also called for providing all facilities to the pilgrims visiting the ashram. The Chief Minister said a permanent and robust management system should be developed. Along with this, the Chief Minister also called for completing the road widening work in Bhowali at the earliest so that the traffic system can be further improved.
District Magistrate Nainital Vandana Singh informed the meeting that the number of devotees visiting the Kainchi Dham fair is increasing rapidly every year. About 24 lakh devotees visited Kainchi Dham last year while in previous years this number was around 8 lakh. This year the number of devotees is likely to increase further, she said.
Vandana Singh said the carrying capacity of Kainchi Dham is far less than the actual number of pilgrims visiting the ashram. This year a systematic plan has been prepared for traffic management and crowd control. She suggested implementing the registration system and setting the maximum limit for the devotees coming to Kainchi Dham in future, so that the journey can be made safe, well organized and smooth.
In the meeting, top IAS officers R. K. Sudhanshu, R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagauli, Vinay Shankar Pandey, Additional Director General of Police A.P. Anshuman, IG Kumaon Riddhim Agarwal, SSP Nainital P.S. Meena were present through virtual medium.
Nestled in the serene Kumaon hills, Neem Karori Baba Ashram located in Nainital district is a spiritual sanctuary dedicated to the revered saint.
