Parts of Nainital are facing acute electricity crisis after the Sunday’s squall that uprooted many poles and trees plunging the lake city into darkness.
Top officials of the UPCL however said the restoration work is full swing and expressed hope that the electricity would be restored shortly in Nainital. “We are working on it round the clock and hopeful for that the electricity will be restored shortly,” a UPCL official said.
“For the past 2-3 days, Nainital is facing major electricity crisis. Even some parts of Mall Road were in dark,” said Jyotsna Dwivedy, a Dehradun-based Chartered Accountant (CA), who is holidaying in Nainital during the past 2 days.
Meanwhile, many hotels have also reported LPG shortage in Nainital.
