As the monsoon begins to recede in Uttarakhand, women in Kinjani village of Rudraprayag district get down to the annual task of clearing the unwanted grass and vegetation that flourishes during the rainy season. Keeping their homes and surroundings clean is a cherished tradition in the Himalayan villages, where community life and a deep respect for the environment go hand in hand. While cleaning, these women also sing the local Garhwali songs.
