With the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections approaching, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday held a crucial meeting with senior party leaders from the hill state to discuss election strategy, organisational preparedness and political challenges.
The meeting was held at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge at New Delhi in the presence of Leader of Opposition Gandhi, Kharge and Congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal.
Uttarakhand Congress president Ganesh Godiyal, who attended the meeting, shared details in a social media post, saying that discussions covered various social and political issues as well as preparations for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
The meeting was also attended by AICC general secretary and Uttarakhand in-charge Kumari Selja, state co-incharges Surender Sharma and Manoj Yadav, Leader of Opposition in the Uttarakhand Assembly Yashpal Arya, and senior leaders Pritam Singh and Harak Singh Rawat.
The meeting assumes significance as the Congress has stepped up its political activities in Uttarakhand ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. The party recently launched its Nyay Yatra, seeking to mobilise public support across all 70 Assembly constituencies and highlight issues including unemployment, alleged corruption, crimes against women and Ankita Bhandari murder issue.
The participation of the party’s national leadership and key state functionaries indicates a focus on coordinating the organisation and preparing for the electoral contest against the ruling BJP.
