The Imam of a mosque in Jhabreda area of Haridwar district in Uttarakhand was arrested on Thursday for allegedly sodomizing a minor boy and threatening to kill him.
Acting on the complaint of the father of the seven-year-old victim, the accused Imam Nasir was arrested, police said.
According to the complaint lodged with the police, the accused Imam took the boy to his room in the mosque and allegedly sodomized him. The imam also threatened to kill the boy if he told anyone about it.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered against the accused imam at Jhabreda police station under sections 351(2) of the Indian Penal Code and 5(1), 5(M)/6 of the POCSO Act. The accused is a resident of Laksar area of Haridwar district.
