The chardham yatra in Uttarakhand on Saturday resumed after remaining suspended for nearly four days due to incessant rains and met department’s warning.

The state government on Sept 1 had postponed the Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib Yatra till September 5.

“From today, the registration of Char Dham pilgrims has restarted,” an official statement said.

Despite some stray incidents of cloudburst and landslides in areas like nagaon in Uttarkashi district on Sunday, there was a relative calm in the past 2-3 days in the hill state which was battered by flash floods that brought big devastations at number of places.

Scores of roads and national highways are still blocked at number of places.
