An FIR filed by renowned environmentalist Dr Anil Prakash Joshi seeking to identity the alleged VIP in then Ankita Bhandari murder case has come under criticism with veteran Congress leader Harish Rawat saying such report should have come from her parents.

Joshi, a recipient of Padam Bhushan, in his report filed at the Vasant Vihar police station in Dehradun has sought the identity of the alleged VIP in the murder case, a vociferous demand in the state that forced the state government to order a CBI probe in the case.

Rawat, former chief minister, took to the social media and said that it would have been much better if the parents of Ankita Bhandari should file such FIR.

State Congress Vice President Suryakant Dhasmana also raised doubts over the FIR which was filed on Friday night. He said the BJP is scared of the possibility of the name of the alleged VIP getting exposed through CBI probe. Dhasmana made it clear that Congress would not tolerate any move to digress the probe from the main motive of unravelling the mystery of the alleged VIP.

Uttarakhand CPI-ML Secretary Indresh Maikhuri also criticized the government and said the move raised doubts over the real motive of the government.
