A boy and his girlfriend stabbed each other after a breakup in Dehradun on Saturday, police said.

Both the students were later hospitalized.

According to police, Uday (21), a resident of Meerut, and Mahima Verma (21), a resident of Dehradun, were first-year MCA students at a private educational institution in Clementown and had been in a long-term relationship.

The incident occurred when Mahima went to Uday’s room to sort out the matter after the breakup. A heated argument took place between the two which led to stabbing with kitchen knives. The two got injured in the stabbing.

After receiving information, police arrived at the scene and rushed the two injured students to the hospital, where they are receiving treatment.

Police said Mahima suffered a neck injury and has undergone surgery. He said that the conditions of both the students are out of danger.
