Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami turned 51 on Wednesday (Sept 16) and chose to mark his birthday by sharing the occasion with children studying at the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities in Dehradun.
Dhami’s birthday this year is special for him as he is all set to complete his five year term as Chief Minister in Uttarakhand early next year when the state assembly elections will also be held. He will be the first Chief Minister to do so after Congress stalwart N D Tiwari. He is also the longest serving Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
Dhami cut a birthday cake with the children, interacted with them and spent time encouraging them. His wife, Geeta Dhami, was also present on the occasion.
The children appeared delighted to have the chief minister among them, as the birthday celebration turned into an intimate gathering marked by warmth and affection.
“Spending time with children gives new energy and inspiration to life. Their affection and the happiness on their faces is the most special and memorable gift for my birthday,” Dhami said.
Dhami also received birthday greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, besides several legislators, BJP leaders and party workers.
Modi, in a message on X, wished Dhami good health and a long life, saying the Uttarakhand chief minister was working hard for the state’s progress in various fields and that his commitment to empowering the poor was equally commendable.
