After getting the suggestion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday said his government is working to make Uttarakhand as the spiritual capital of the world.
As part of the move, the restoration and beautification of ancient temples in Kedarkhand and Manaskhand is being undertaken at a rapid pace, Dhami said a day after Prime Minister Modi said Uttarakhand can be made the spiritual capital of Uttarakhand. However, Dhami did not give more details about other steps being taken in this regard.
Dhami was speaking at a function after he inaugurated and laid foundation stones of development projects worth ₹142.25 crore in Gairsain as part of Uttarakhand’s silver jubilee celebrations.
During the program held in the state assembly premises, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the statehood activists who died in the movement. He also honored some activists by presenting them with shawls.
During the program, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹142.25 crore including the inauguration of 27 development projects worth ₹43.63 crore and the foundation stone laying of 33 development projects worth ₹98.62 crore.
The Chief Minister visited the stalls set up by various departments at the venue. He also honored people who have made commendable contributions in sports, education, agriculture, and other fields. During the event, the ITBP, IRB, Civil Police, Home Guards, Women Constables, Civil Police/Fire Service, and NCC Women Contingents performed a spectacular parade to the tune of the band of the 46th Battalion PAC. The Chief Minister also inspected the parade.
