One person was killed and three injured when a driver of a high-speed Toyota Innova car went berserk hitting two-wheelers and cars before gate crashing into a house in Dehradun on Thursday evening.
Guneet Singh (43), who was driving the Innova car, has been arrested, police said adding he is a resident of Inder Road, Dehradun.
The accident spree began from the DL Cut in Dalanwala area as the car first hit and damaged an Aura car (Registration No. UK07TE2606) on DL Road.
Subsequently, while speeding away, the car struck and severely damaged a scooter (Registration No. UK07FS5518) and a motorcycle (Registration No. UK07FR5116). In this incident, three individuals sustained serious injuries: the scooter rider, Rahul (son of Narendra Kumar, resident of 233 Ambedkar Nagar, DL Road, Dehradun); and the two motorcycle riders, Rohit Phillips (48) and his son Anuj Phillips (aged 22), both residents of 14 Old Survey Road, Dalanwala, Dehradun.
Rahul, one of the injured, was admitted to Vaishya Nursing Home by the police; following initial treatment, he was referred to Max Hospital.
Meanwhile, the other two injured victims — Rohit and Anuj—were taken to Doon Hospital in a private vehicle arranged by the police, where Rohit died during treatment.
During the incident, the car crashed through the gate of the ‘Chhabra Niwas’ residence on Old Survey Road and barged into the property’s premises, where it damaged a scooter (Registration No. UK07FX1837) and a car (Registration No. UK07BN2255) parked inside the house.
The police have seized the vehicle responsible for the accident and have taken its driver, Guneet Singh, into custody. A case regarding this incident has been registered, and further legal action is currently underway.
