Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday renewed his challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an open public debate, raising questions about India’s financial system, the US deal and other issues.

In a social media post, Gandhi said 24 hours had passed since he first challenged Modi and urged the Prime Minister to choose any venue for a face-to-face debate in the presence of the media and young people.

“You say the Opposition is anti-national. Choose any stage, any venue, and debate me on this – Who is anti-national? Who has connections with foreign forces? And what is the nature of those connections?” Gandhi said.

Proposing an open debate, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said both leaders could sit across a table, with the media and young people present. He even suggested that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat could be appointed as the judge of the debate.

“Daro mat (don’t be afraid),” Gandhi said, asking Modi to agree to the debate as soon as possible.

Gandhi said the discussion should cover several contentious issues, including the financial system and financial structure, the circumstances under which the US deal was concluded, why it was finalised so quickly and why the Cabinet was allegedly not informed.

He also raised questions about the Adani case and the Epstein controversy, saying these and other issues should be discussed openly.

“Let the truth come out. Let everything be crystal clear,” he said.

Gandhi further referred to the defamation cases filed against him, claiming that there were around 45 such cases. He challenged Modi to file a defamation case over the allegations concerning foreign connections as well, saying he was prepared to discuss the matter openly in the court also.

The Congress leader ended his message with a Diwali greeting to the Prime Minister, signing off with “Happy Diwali, Modi ji.”
