Thunderstorm hits Dehradun, Mussoorie, Nainital (updating)

People on Sunday switched off fans and ACs after a thunderstorm hit Dehradun, Mussoorie, Nainital and many other parts of Uttarakhand plummeting temperatures drastically.

The storm that blew with more than 50 kmph uprooted many trees as Dehradun was suddenly plunged into darkness at 9.30 AM. However, there was no report of any loss of life and property due to the storm.

“It is indeed very surprising that we are experiencing pleasant weather in May which is usually very hot,” said S K Sharma, a resident of Dehradun.

The storm came a day after a hailstorm hit Dehradun on Saturday evening. The hailstorm was also reported from Uttarkashi and many other parts of the state.
