A 27-year-old woman from Delhi was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a homestay on the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti road, prompting a police investigation into the cause of her death.

According to police, the incident came to light on the morning of June 15 after the emergency helpline received information that a woman identified as P. Radha Gayatri, a resident of Delhi, was lying unconscious in a room at Kiyana Homestay in Tipridhar. A police team from Mussoorie police station rushed to the spot. A pharmacist attached to the ambulance declared her dead after an initial examination.

Police said Gayatri had arrived in Uttarakhand with her husband, Soumya Sricharan, after travelling from Delhi to Rishikesh on June 13. The couple reportedly checked into the homestay on the night of June 14.

During questioning, her husband told police that the couple had consumed alcohol before going to sleep around 3.30 am. He claimed that he found his wife unconscious when he woke up later in the morning. Police said the woman had suffered bleeding from the nose and there were signs of urinary discharge.

Investigators also learned that the couple had married in November 2025 and were employed in private IT firms, with the husband working in Pune and the deceased in Gurugram. Their families are originally from Visakhapatnam.

A forensic team examined the scene, collected evidence and documented the room through photography and videography. The body was sent to Coronation Hospital in Dehradun on Tuesday for a post-mortem examination conducted by a panel of doctors.

Police said no external injury marks were found on the body during the post-mortem. However, doctors have preserved viscera samples for further forensic analysis to ascertain the exact cause of death.

The woman’s father, P. Sudhakar, has submitted a complaint seeking a thorough investigation. Police said all angles are being examined and the final cause of death will be determined after forensic and laboratory reports are received.
