Amid the political storm over the Ankita Bhandari murder case, an Uttarakhand bandh on Sunday evoked mild response in the hill state.
In most of the areas, traffic and normal life remained unaffected, police sources said.
On Sunday, majority of the business establishments and offices usually remain closed in the state.
Several social organizations supported by the main opposition Congress have called for an Uttarakhand bandh on Sunday on the alleged failure of the state government to deal strongly with the case.
The Police has made elaborate arrangement to deal with law and order across the state, the sources said. Additional police forces were deployed in markets and sensitive areas to ensure that the public does not face any inconvenience.
